For over 20 years, Blue Water Coral has been nurturing vibrant marine ecosystems. Meet Ross, our dedicated owner, whose fascination with saltwater tanks began in the 1970s. As a young enthusiast working part-time at a Toronto pet store, Ross marveled at the use of real ocean water in their saltwater tanks. Skeptical of synthetic salt, he was amazed when it worked flawlessly. Ross set up his first saltwater fish tank at home, guided by his father’s support.

Ross’s journey continued when he moved to Niagara, where he established a 30-gallon saltwater tank. His secret weapon? A UV light, a tiny bulb with an airstone that sterilized water effectively. Today, UV lights are a staple for reefers. But Ross’s true passion lies in corals. Starting with a few specimens on live rocks, he embarked on a learning curve to keep them thriving. His golden rule? Water changes are crucial.
